Step 2: Complete the Student Appraisal Form At the beginning of your grade 12 year, Student Appraisal Form Complete and submit the Student Appraisal Form (picked up and submitted in the Guidance office) Will be used to select potential school nominees for particular scholarships. Ex. Schulich Leaders, Loran

Step 3: Advocate Notify your counsellor if you feel you are a good candidate for a scholarship that requires you to be nominated by the school.

Step 4: COMPLETE your application Start early Gather any supplementary documents (reference letters, transcripts, essays, etc.) Complete the appropriate scholarship application form Give plenty of notice to anyone (Principal, teacher, counsellor) who may need to sign or write a referral.

Young Scholar Seminar On June 25 th from 2:00-5:00 at York University Meet with various agencies offering tips on interviews, application preparation, and essay writing for scholarships

Letters of Recommendation Please provide staff with: 1. A one page summary outlining why you would be a good candidate for the scholarship 2. A minimum of TWO WEEKS notice to complete the letter

STEP 5. Sending in your Application Mail application before the deadline Use a courier service Print off confirmation of receipt

STEP 6-Receiving the Money Meet all the conditions to receive the money: full-time enrollment, maintaining residency etc. Attend an awards ceremony or luncheon, if required, be gracious and dress appropriately. Thank the donor, when appropriate.

OSAP Financial assistance provided by the government Application on-line at Deadline: within 45 days of starting your post-secondary program

OSAP loans are based on family income and assets and funds received may be limited or non- existent.

30% Off Ontario Tuition Approx. $1830 for university and college degree students Approx. $850 for college diploma and certificate students

Eligibility Full-time student at a public college, university or private postsecondary school in Ontario approved for OSAP apply to directly from high school (e.g., undergraduate level) citizenship and residency requirements parents’ gross income (total before taxes) is $160,000 or less

Applying For 30% Off Tuition If applying for OSAP, you will automatically be considered If you are not applying for OSAP, you will need:  your Social Insurance Number  your parent(s) Social Insurance Number(s)  the amount of your parent(s) previous annual tax return  information about your parent(s)’ total gross income  training/30-off-ontario-tuition
