Sixth Grade and Grade Level Configuration

 Programming and Facilities: Provide the curricular programming and facilities that address the academic, athletic, co-curricular, safety and security needs of our students and staff.  Southmont Schools will investigate the feasibility and appropriateness of moving 6 th grade students to the Southmont Junior High building and provide a recommendation to the Board by the October, 2015 meeting.

 There were 184 respondents to the survey that was administered to parents of students in grades 4, 5, and 6  A higher percentage of respondents indicated they were not in favor of 6 th grade being at the Jr. High building, 45% to 41%  A higher percentage of respondents indicated students would have more opportunities with 6 th grade at the Jr. High building, 68% to 32%  A higher percentage of respondents thought their child would be successful at the Jr. High, 64% to 36%  An equal percentage of respondents on the impact of moving their child to the Jr. High for sixth grade, 30% Positive, 31% Negative, 39% Don’t Know
