If you don’t know where you’re going, how will you know when you get there?

Your Faculty Assignment Document Includes: Program Goals Program Objectives Teaching, Research, Service Programs Individual Roles & Responsibilities Professional Development Plan

Program Goals Goals are based on: Clientele needs, Your assignment, Program unit priorities WVU Extension and WVU strategic plans

Program Goals Goals are: * generally one sentence not directly measurable, but attainable statements that communicate the intended result supportive of organizational priorities

Program Objectives Objectives are: short-term measurable specific about what will be accomplished – clear and concise steps toward goal accomplishment

Creating Great Program Objectives Who will be involved in the program? What will they do? Where will the action will occur? What is the extent of the action/change? How will the action/change be measured?

Creating Great Program Objectives Stated from the learner’s perspective focus on knowledge, behavior, skill, action clearly state the result, impact, outcome define the standard of performance

Creating Great Program Objectives To verb/ action noun / outcomes/among whom/through what means/impact will be documented by Sample Objective – Junior Master Gardener: to increase horticulture-related knowledge and community service learning skills through participation in the Junior Master Gardener Program. Impact will be measured by pre/post assessment and documentation of community service efforts.

Roles & Responsibilities List positions of leadership related to your program goals and professional expertise. County Program Coordinator Adviser to FFA, CEOS, 4-H Leaders, etc. Organizational officer, committee member (professional and community associations, boards, collaboratives, etc.)

Professional Development Plan Create goals to reflect your professional development needs Clearly state the area of expertise you want to gain State how you will fulfill your goal (example: conference, course of study, library research, etc.)

Faculty Assignment Document The template for the Faculty Assignment Document is provided annually via . FAD drafts are sent to your supervisor electronically. Your supervisor will discuss your FAD with you before it is finalized. FAD is approved, signed, and put into action!

Why the Faculty Assignment Document is so important…. It defines your work. It determines how you are going to measure your work. It provides a measure of accountability. It is the basis of the annual Faculty File. Collectively, FADs create the future path of our organization.
