Fossil Fuels By Brian Morgan

Most Popular Coal* Oil Petroleum Natural gases

Facts Has been in use for several centuries Abundantly found on earth Generates a large amount of usable energy – High calorific value Considered high efficiency fuel Quite stable in nature when compared to many other fuels Use clean-burning coal technology to reduce CO2 emissions Increased income Really easy to transport

Money Increased income Cheap to construct Can be built almost anywhere, so long as you can get large quantities of fuel to it Very large amounts of electricity can be generated in one place Since they are so cheap and efficient we can build one With the extra money (because it’s cheap) we can use for scrubbers and other CO2 minimizing devices

Merrimack Station 478 MW – 189,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers More than $47 million invested in environmental initiatives – One of the cleanest coal-fired plants in the Northeast Able to produce power at a lower cost than any other fossil fuel powered plant in the state
