Key Messages for Consideration 1.Risk based inspection is working 2.70% of colleges good or outstanding 3.Coasting colleges 4.Change impacts on success 5.Not enough outstanding teaching and learning 6.Improvement in ITP inspection results should be seen in context

A New Common Inspection Framework- just a few thoughts Focus of teaching, learning and assessment Removal of safeguarding & equality and diversity as a limiting grade Focus on narrower set of areas to be judged Capacity to improve Wider use of sector kite marks Value and use of peer review outcomes in inspection Challenge to Ofsted inspectors who will see less and less outstanding provision To charge or not to charge for inspection To self-assess or not to self assess?

Summary Inspection is a valuable snapshot in time Risk based inspection is working The glass is half full in terms of quality Need a definitive view that constitutes outstanding teaching & learning Strategic approach to coasting institutions Risk to reputation of the sector through unscrupulous providers growing under the radar!
