9/10 Seminar: Student Led Conference Preparation FEBRUARY 29- MARCH 3, 2016 GO ABES!

Teacher Information Slide  This week will be focused on laying out the plan for student led conferences coming up. Your main goal is to get a few key pieces of information out so that students can start working ahead.  Monday’s lesson will consist of a 20 minute reflection on the point of student led conferences as well as taking students through the attached Student Led Conference Template powerpoint and steps to be successful preparing for an effective SLC  It would be really helpful if you could upload this document to your classroom website documents tab for students to download or direct them to Iverson, Holm, Lawson, or Yi’s classroom website to download the Template PPT  The Template powerpoint is most effective if students answer all the questions, follow the directions and personalize the presentation to give on a lap top or smartboard during their SLC. (have them attach it to an to you before the SLC or put it on a jump drive)  If a student doesn’t complete or attempt to work on the SLC PPT Template it can still serve as a discussion guide for the conference.  Computer use maybe an issue for some so trading off and working on pairs for these is helpful. Students can the template to themselves after they save it in their winhome so they can access the file throughout the school and at home if interested.

Teacher Information Slide Continued  There are slides at the end of the Template SLC PPT that you can print off for the students to take home to pick a couple times that work as well as make invitations after times have been allocated  It is important to try and help the students get these files saved and in their possession early and get the time slot request out so that they can be scheduled and start working on their presentations over the next three weeks  If you need help or further explanations please contact Iverson, Holm, Lawson and Yi
