Area of Focus Statement The purpose of this study is to implement communication strategies within the work environment to improve job performance and customer care.

Explanation of Problem There seems to be a high turnover within the work environment. I do not know whether it is because of lack of communication or people dis-satisfied with the treatment of the company.

Variables I have chosen the store manager, cashier's supervisor, pro-cashier, head cashier, customer service representative and cashier. I think that all of these people can come up with some great ideas on how we can improve our job performance as well as ensuring that the customers are satisfied with their shopping experience.

Research Question How can we communicate with each other effectively so that we can ensure that we are taking care of the customers as well as our jobs?

Locus of Control The people that I have selected is within my locus of control because I interact with them on a daily basis. Furthermore, they have signed consent forms therefore they are committed to doing everything in their power to help the research proposal a success (Mills 2014a). Finally, they want to make sure that the company is a success while helping employees meet their personal goals.

Intervention/Innovation One strategy that can be used within the work environment is team building activities such as tossing a ball around the room to learn about the different participants within the research proposal (Ndulue, Perea, Kayou, & Martinez (2012), For the simple fact this will help build relationships and once relationships are formed trust can begin.

Group Membership Store manager: Take of the operation of store as well as employees Cashier’s supervisor: Ensure that the head cashiers are doing their jobs to meet the needs of the customers. Head cashier: Ensure that the cashiers are performing their jobs as well as taking care of the customers. Pro-cashier: Handles consumers as well as contractors within the store. Customer service representative: Handles returns, phone calls, and online sales. Cashier: Assist customers in their buying experience as well as handle all money transactions

Negotiations The challenge that I see when doing a research proposal in my scenario is ensuing that you get the key player on board such as the manager. The next challenge is getting all of the consent forms signed for the simple fact all participants work on different shifts and you have to make sure that all are willing to participate. Finally explaining in details what the research proposal is all about.

Ethics While doing a research proposal you have to ensure that you are respecting each individual privacy as well as ensuring them that their name will not be used within the research proposal for the simple fact you do not want to jeopardize their jobs (Mills 2014b). People do not want to think that their job will be threaten about what they say during the research proposal.
