AVID 7 TH AND 8 TH GRADE

WHAT IS AVID?  Advancement Via Individual Determination  A college/career prep class that will help students develop and refine skills needed for success in the future  WICOR strategies are the focus  Writing  Inquiry  Collaboration  Organization  Reading

REQUIREMENTS FOR AVID  Must take at least 1 Pre-AP class while enrolled in AVID  Must fill out application with student and parent signatures, written portion of application, and complete oral interview portion of application  Application and Written portion are due FEB. 4 (were handed out at parent meeting Jan. 26 and ed to recommended and interested students on Jan. 27)  Oral Interviews are scheduled to take place at SKI for incoming 7 th graders on Thursday, Feb. 11  Oral Interviews are scheduled to take place at ISMS for incoming 8 th graders on Wednesday, Feb. 10  Decision should be made by March 11
