Behaviour Management in Grade 1 As a class we discuss and agree upon a list of class agreements which will then act as our reference for good behaviour. We will publish these in September. An example of class agreements: We agree to: ➢ Listen to others ➢ Take turns to speak ➢ Use good manners ➢ Take care of each other ➢ Tidy up anything that needs it ➢ Do our best and try our hardest

COMMUNICATION For any changes in “going home” routine, please Ms. Ronke AND Ms. Hue AND Mr Lai, the transport coordinator, if your child usually takes a UNIS bus.

TAKE HOME FOLDER This folder is for the “take-home” reading book as well as for any home-school or school-home communication. It must be returned to school each day.

● Forgotten lunch ticket? Don’t worry! The ES Office will give your child a ticket and inform you about how to repay. ● Please do not give your child money to buy lunch tickets. LUNCH TICKETS Please ensure that your child’s name and class are written on the back of each ticket.

SCHOOL BAG Please ensure that your child knows what is inside his/her school bag. ●Your child needs a library book bag. These can be purchased from the SCO Store or brought from home. ●Children must wear hats during recess. Please make sure your child has a hat and spare clothes. These can be left in your child’s cubby. ●Please label all belongings/clothes.

P.E. on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, If your child is ill, he/she should not be in school. If your child is well-enough to come to school, it is expected that he/she should participate in P.E. Exceptions to this would be in the case of a long term condition such as a broken limb or asthma. In this case a doctor’s note should be provided. For the comfort of your children, the pool is heated to 30 C. If your child is not already dressing themselves please have them practice at home(e.g, tying shoe laces, getting sports shoes onto their feet, putting on their swimsuit)

Developing understanding rather than memorisation. Use of games and other hands-on activities. Class Parents Class Parents act as a support and liaison for their child’s classroom teacher, parents and students, particularly for new families entering UNIS Hanoi. The Class Parents can also assist the Principal and serve as a liaison with the SCO. If you are interested OR sign up tonight.

Class parent duties can include: ❖ Briefly meet with the Homeroom/Advisory teacher to discuss possible assistance throughout the year. ❖ Liaise with the Advancement Office in order to keep up-to-date with new entries to the classroom. ❖ Introduce yourself to new families via , phone or through the Welcome Coffee Mornings. ❖ Assist teachers or the Deputy Principal, if needed, for special activities and events. ❖ Assist the SCO to find volunteers to assist at UN Day, the Used Book and Bake Sale and the Spring Fair. ❖ Provide a vital link in an emergency phone tree should one be necessary. ❖ Help publicize Elementary events and activities. ❖ Attend orientation and information meetings for your grade level. ❖ Organise social functions so that the grade level or class can get together. ❖ Organise any meetings, and provide feedback to the SCO, in order to address issues at Elementary School level.
