Mr. Kelly Their Culture

Incan Society The Incas worshiped many gods –There were gods for all aspects of nature The book says the earth god was the most important, but most researchers say the sun-god The king, or Inca, was in control of the empire –Pachacuti, the most well known of the Inca, left local leaders in charge of their regions He required all people in the empire speak the Incan language

Incan Culture The rulers were at the top of the society Descendants of the sun-god –The head priest and military commander were below the royal family –Lower military commanders, temple priests and then skilled workers were next –Last were the farmers, herders and soldiers –Everyone in Incan society had a job to do Believed in human sacrifice –Only used in times trouble

Incan Technology Pachacuti built a series of connected roads –These roads connected the far-reaching areas of the Inca Empire. These roads helped people travel throughout the difficult geographic regions –This helped increase trade and spread information Also had advances in mathematics The Inca also made advances in the use of irrigation and fertilization –The Incas used terraced farming in the Andes
