CPCCCM2005A USE CONSTRUCTION TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT

 Industry is moving to the use of e’portfolios.  Vet assessment does not have to be all based on the trainer/assessor observing and recording.  Learners can provide evidence of competence which the assessor validates.  Use of web2 technologies may motivate students to be more proactive in their learning

 The unit is covered by completing workbooks from teacher input and textbook research  Practical skills are assessed by teacher observation of project work  Achievement is recorded via College report and BOS&AQF certification

CPCCCM2005A USE CONSTRUCTION TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT

Nothing in the way I teach the unit. Input via demonstrations Practice via projects Theory via textbooks, videos Onguard Little in the way the students complete the unit Completion of projects, workbooks and tests Lots in the way the unit could be assessed. Self assessment of competence and demonstration of evidence on their wiki.

A change in the teacher led student follow model Students would recognise when they had achieved competence themselves. Students would realise that they can learn and develop competence in a variety of situations not just during construction periods Eventually students would seek out opportunities to develop competence and record evidence

The project has the potential to achieve its aims Wikis are a good platform for this type of project. BUT I didn’t get moving on it early enough. Students resist bringing laptops to the workshop. They want to make stuff not learn stuff Some are in the course because of curriculum structures not their choice. This is an inherent issue in schools compared to TAFE but it does limit take up of extra work.

What I Liked? That it keeps our work organises and we do not lose our work like we do with worksheets Makes work easy to present It is a good way to learn and it can be accessed from anywhere Making the person character for your wiki. We get to use computers and technology more often I like how you can compare other classmates workI t was easy to use Nothing Uploading pictures Nothing How we can put anything we went on it and make it look different Adding our friends on it and looking at their page fun to use. Changing colours and pictures

What I didn’t like? The settings of the wiki are a bit confusing Not user friendly Not enough features It takes a while to learn, also its a bit difficult to use Its hard to use and confusing to load work onto it. Some teachers don’t know how to use it so when we need help they cant help us I cant always upload videos Setting it up. Adding features Wikispaces Organising wiki Setting up page Website Setting it up Organising it The idea of a wiki Waste of time It was confusing to use at first Hard to use
