The CPR-system  The Central Personal Register was introduced 1968  It assigns a unique ID too anyone living in Denmark. The 6 first digits represents the date of birth.  CPR-numbers: DDMMYY-XXXX  The CPR-system is used by all parts the public sector in Denmark. XXX 3

Income statistics - Taxation at the source Taxation at the source introduced in 1970 The employers/authorities withhold the tax directly, whenever he pay out salaries. (Often once a month) Progressive taxation and deduction makes an pre- tax assesement necessary on the individual level. Based on the assesment the tax administration then forwards the estimated tax percentage to the employer. Financial institutions reports capital gains and interest payments to the tax administration, but do not pay the tax for individuals. Finalised tax statement for the income year, done for most danes 3 months after the end of the year.

The Institution register covers all units in Denmark that provide education. The interview process  The households are selected on the basis of our register of population through Simple Random Sampling  Each household is assigned a unique password and household ID  A letter with URL and login information is sent to the selected respondent  If the household don’t complete the web interview (CAWI) within a week a reminder is sent.  If still no response, we contact the household by telephone (CATI)  If unable to reach household by phone, a paper questionnaire is sent 19 Prerequisites The interview process Design of the questionnaire Analysis
