Copy this information on Pg. 37 in your Packet: Leaves of plants have stomata (openings) where water can escape by evaporation to the air. A cactus plant has waxy coverings over their needles (which are leaves) that slow down evaporation (water loss). Important because they live in dry climates and need to hold on to their water! Thick leaves evaporate slower than thin leaves! Plants that live in wetter climates don’t have a waxy covering because it rains more often!
