Download skin_tones.jpg  Save usual place

OR…  Take/open existing/new selfie  Head and shoulder pose

Background layer  What is default name for Layer?  Rename as skin tones

Copy  Make a duplicate layer named skin-tone-copy  Lock the original skin-tones

After making a copy

Goals … Make his face be white (selected) Rest black…or red in this case

Select (face) via Color Range …to select his/your face Works like magic wand, quick select, only better Choose copy… layer (The new one)  Select> Color Range

Specify values : Notes: Checkbox Detect Face Select skin tones Fuzziness value Selection radio button Click OK

Issues  Hair is selected

Use Refine Edge- -Customize  Great for hair, fur  choose Select>Refine Edge  Are several View Modes  I chose Overlay  Want hair to be red (masked out via overlay)

Result Click OK

Getting close… Remember: Use shift/alt to add, subtract from a selection Choose quick select Small brush Alt-click (subtracts)

Vibrance  Use adjustment layer  Choose Vibrance  You make adjustments

Reselect  Select>Reselect  Choose Curves in Adjustment Layers tab  Move the cursor around curve mid point  Are changing midtone colors
