Presentation transcript:

 Feeling overwhelmed with class, my internship and family life.  Hoping to gain the knowledge and experience to further my career.  I am excited about conducting productive and inspiring group discussions with the residents in Grace Cottage.

 Information Mostly Learned › How the Program is ran › Conducting group discussion › Policies and Procedures › Outreach Services for the Youth  View of Agency › Agency is very structured and regulated › Very relaxed setting, I thought it was going to be a hostile environment

 Things that cause stress: › Family › Work › School › Internship  Maintaining Stressors › Prioritize › Take it day by day › Be strong › Follow all Policies and Procedures of any agency

 Supervision of group discussions were beneficial to my experience  Acknowledging boundaries with clients and staff  Being able to ask questions about your work ethic and how can you improve  Developing a positive and rewarding relationship with the clients

 Internship experience started out great and gradually became worst over time  I experienced difficulty maintaining school, work, my internship and the commute from PA to DE  Taking my internship role seriously  Staying motivated

 Communicated mainly with staff, residents, supervisor and the Family Crisis Therapist  The least experience I had was with the intake process of clients which I wanted to do.  There was a lot of miscommunication between myself, staff and my supervisor.  I valued the bond I had with the residents of Grace Cottage. I was able to talk to all the girls individually on different occasions about their lives and goals.

 Strengths  Leader  Culturally Diverse  Easy going  Observant  Weaknesses  Not getting the full experience I wanted  Being mindful of who is around me  Be professional at all times

 I need more experience on how to create treatment goals for the residents.  I would like to know more about the residents background to have a better understanding of their behaviors.  I anticipate being able to talk more freely with clients, being in a more professional position. I’m becoming more comfortable with presentations and group discussions

 The agency needs more training for working with a culturally diverse population.  The staff could be more sensitive towards the residents.  Being respectful of anyone’s beliefs, culture, way of thinking and sexual preference.

 Developing the skills to conduct group discussions.  Knowledge of state level procedures an policies  Regret having the feeling of giving up due to incidents during my internship  I am excited about my future of having a administrative position and not being in direct care with clients anymore

 Short Term Goals › Getting out of Direct Care. › Revise my resume › Applying for Administrative Positions  Long Term Goals › Continue to being productive and being a leader › Seek employment being a Counselor, Treatment Specialist or a Family Crisis Therapist

Thank You Are There Any Questions???
