Outline of 2011 ILUA II work plan presentation =============================== 1.Brief Background 2.Expected outcome of ILUA II 3.Outputs of ILUA II 4.Project Coordination (Implementation structure) 5.Multi-sectoral Technical Committee 6.Budget for year one of ILUA II 7.Work plan activities and timeline/output 8.Linkages of ILUA II and UN-REDD

Brief Background of ILUA I =============================== Between 2005 to 2008, Zambia implemented ILUA through the MTENR-Forestry Department ILUA was the first of its kind, included both biophysical and livelihood aspects The ILUA approach offered the possibilities of analysing land management as whole Also marked the beginning of a collaborative effort

Brief background cont../ ============================== The 2005 to 2008 ILUA is now referred to as ILUA I which generated largely base line data ILUA II ( ) is a continuation and aims at enhancing the use and development of data towards Sustainable Forest Management ILUA II is also expected to address data collection needs for more REDD pertinent parameters including carbon pools

Expected Outcome of ILUA II ============================== ‘ strengthened capacity in planning and implementation of Sustainable Forest Management (SFM) and REDD through better information capacity building, dissemination of information and improved multi- sectoral dialogue’.

Outputs of ILUA II ============================== Output 1:Effective means of dissemination and utilization of the information for multi-sector dialogue Output 2:improved methodological and human capacity in collecting and analyzing forest resource information for SFM, REDD monitoring and carbon inventory Output 3:Implementation of ILUA II Mapping and Field Survey.

Project Coordination ===========================

Multi- Sectoral Technical Committee ============================== MTENR will use the Technical Committee (TC) composed of experts from different sectors with linkage to information provided by ILUA. Technical Committee is divided into three thematic areas(working groups): 1)Dissemination of information, 2)Forest and carbon assessment, and 3)Remote sensing and mapping. The responsibility of TC will be to oversee and provide necessary requested technical input in the implementation of the project activities. TC is be composed of representatives from all main stakeholder organizations.
