Work with text Education in Great Britain is compulsory and free for all children between the ages of 5 and 16. There are 2 types of schools in Great Britain. They are : state and private schools. State schools are divided into primary and secondary Primary schools are divided into infant and junior schools. The children attend the primary schools for 6 years. In Great Britain children begin to go to school at the age of five. First they study at infant schools. In these schools they learn to paint pictures, make figures. Then they begin to learn letters, read, write and count. At the age of seven English schoolchildren go to junior schools. They study many subjects such as : English, Maths, History, Music and Drawing. English student’s marks are from A to F. At the age of 11 pupils go to secondary school.At secondary school children study English, Mathematics, Science, History, Art, Geography, Music, Information technology and PE. English, Mathematics and Science are called "core" subjects. At the age of 7,11 and 14 pupils take examinations in the core subjects.At the age of 16 pupils take General Certificate of Secondary Education exams. After that they can try to get a job, go to college. Some students continue their education at school and prepare for the national exam called “A”level. They need “A”level to enter a university.
