Why an Ocean Data Partnership? March Recommendation of the Data Management Workshop, UNC Chapel Hill; RA’s Need to assume some responsibilities and transition Lesson’s Learned from SEACOOS April 2006April Workshop in SC Sea Grant with a core of representatives throughout the region and GoMOOS Reps to assess feasibility; Outcome was to proceed & draft a MOU based on GoMOOS ODP Model June 2006June Reconvened the group and presented the MOU and modified as appropriate; Workshop members designated preliminary core of members in order to get governance in place, then expand to other regional data providers

MOU Nuggets Promote and Coordinate the sharing, linking, electronic dissemination, application, and archiving of SECOORA data in the regionPurpose: Promote and Coordinate the sharing, linking, electronic dissemination, application, and archiving of SECOORA data in the region Non-binding and no cost to Partners Partnership will become part of the larger SECOORA Governance and Information Management and Communications Committee Will have a governing board consisting of 1 rep from each Partner ODP Chair will be elected by the ODP Board and serve on the SECOORA Steering Committee SECOORA has funds available to hire an Information Management Coordinator Host will be selected by the Partnership Governing Board and initially consider the framework and data standards established by SEACOOS and other sub-regional efforts ODP Governing Board Information Management Coordinator PartnersSECOORA STEERING COMMITTEE
