 Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated was founded on January 15, 1908 on the campus of Howard University by sixteen amazing women.  She was incorporated on January 29, 1913 by six heroic women, two of which were also founders.

 These women acknowledged that there was a need for upstanding black women: the organization’s purpose is to cultivate and encourage high scholastic and ethical standards, to promote unity and friendship amongst college women, to study and alleviate problems concerning women, to maintain a progressive interest in college life, and to be of SERVICE TO ALL MANKIND

 Under National President Barbara A. McKenzie, Alpha Kappa Alpha has launched an Extraordinary Service Program; known as the Heart of ESP  The Five Platforms are:  Non-traditional entrepreneur  Economic keys to success  Economic growth of the black family  Undergraduate signature program  Health resource management and technology
