 Thuraya's company was founded in the United Arab Emirates in  The company has been successfully launched three satellites which the last one was launched on the 15th of January 2008 and is expected to expand system capacity and coverage area.

 Thuraya SG-2520 is the world’s smartest and lightest satellite mobile phone which is an advanced smart phone with 3-in-1 integrated technologies which are satellite, GSM Tri-band and GPS.

 Many mobile phone contain the heavy and toxic metals like lead, cadmium and mercury which they are considered to be non-biodegradable and can be very dangerous to humans and animals.  Where, Thuraya SG-2520 agreed with the requirements of the European Union and was manufactured by using lead-free solder paste and parts to reduce the effect on the environment.  It is designed to work on different levels of energy which use only the power required to reach the network, in general, the closer you are to a base station antenna, the lower power output required.  It works on lithium ion battery which is safer than other batteries such as nickel-cadmium battery that affect the environment.  Also,it can be recharged by using the solar charger.  Therefore, it costs about $1,

 Thuraya SG-2520 is Designed to ensure the safety of all people regardless of age and health.  It is the most popular mobile phone for reporters, explorers and adventure seekers who need satellite connectivity that combine all the new features that come in today’s high technology phones, because :  It offers greater flexibility in high GSM environments with increased phone usage and voice quality and has GPRS feature which allows to access to internet,therefore Users will be able to download and upload.  So, it leads to the point that this phone offers high mobility and flexibility which tend it to rise its price.

 It is agreed with the terms of the Federal Communications Commission of the U.S. Government which not to exceed the emission limits for exposure to radio frequency energy that tend to make some harmful in the human body such as headache, earache and even cancer, therefore it impacts on the ear 0.32 watt/kg and 0.65 watt/kg on the human body,where the maximum value of specific absorption rate is allowed(SAR)1.6 watt/kg by FCC.  It must be switched off in aircrafts, because it could cause interference on the aircraft’s system which tend to make more damage on the environment.  It should not be used near medical equipments which tend to give errors in the results and make that statement more complicated.

 Thuraya aims to contribute to the development of telecommunications infrastructures.  Thuraya SG-2520 is anticipated to drive the Company's future business growth.  It is built to be more environmental than its competitors.  It has many high-end GSM features such as a built-in camera, GPRS, JAVA and a high resolution colored screen.  It is designed to be easy to use for all people.  It is agreed with many governments ‘ terms.
