2. Appalachian Plateau a. The smallest region in the state. b. It encompasses just Dade County in the extreme northwestern corner. c. Lookout Mountain is located in this region of narrow valleys and wooded ridges.

3. Valley and Ridge a. This region consists of several mountain ridges and the valleys created between them. b. Mining and farming are the main industries in this region. c. Located between the Appalachian Plateau and the Blue Ridge regions.
