Reforms, Challenges and Safety Roads Investment Programme Dominic Mullaney Principal Adviser DTTAS

Traffic  National roads which comprise less than 6% of the network carry 45% of all traffic  Regional roads which comprise about 13% of the network carry 30% of all traffic

2016 Grant Allocations  TII allocations announced in Dec  RLR allocations on 26 th Jan Within the overall allocation of €298m a contingency of €10m was set aside for works necessitated by severe weather  Following a case being made to the Departments of An Taoiseach, PER & Finance additional monies of €96m were made available to DTTAS and severe weather monies were allocated on the 18 th February 2016

Division of monies Total available was €106m (€96m + €10m) & it was divided as follows:  Regional & Local Roads €90m  National Roads €8m  Irish Rail €8m €85m of the RLR monies have been allocated to date.  The balance is likely to be allocated in May – spend must be in 2016  Will need a definitive list of works
