On-Campus Preschool How to create and run a successful preschool on your high school campus!

 Create a webpage that is linked to your high school website (example: Tiny Vikes Preschool Website)Tiny Vikes Preschool Website  Distribute flyers to local elementary schools to be sent home in weekly folders  Post flyers at local stores and shopping centers  the staff and invite them to forward to family and friends Advertising

 If you have a website, create a Google Form to enroll children (example: Tiny Vikes Preschool Enrollment Form)Tiny Vikes Preschool Enrollment Form  Enroll children from the local community on a first-come, first- served basis  Children must be at least 3 and fully potty trained  Parents must provide a copy of child’s immunization records  Set a maximum number of children you can accommodate, then start a waiting list  Set up a group to contact parents easily – they like to hear from you often!  Start enrolling early to ensure a full preschool for your high school students Enrolling Children

 Students must have a clear TB test to work in the preschool  The school nurse gives one free test to each student enrolled in the class  Students must pass Health before taking Child Development  Students must pass a written quiz on teacher requirements and the preschool schedule before working with the children Prerequisites for High School Students

 An on-campus preschool is funded out of your department budget  Work with your VP over facilities to purchase the furniture – small tables with chairs, a large carpet for circle time, and storage/cubbies  The preschool is free to the community since it is a high school child care program  Parents are asked to make donations of craft and snack supplies – I send out “wish lists” on an as-needed basis Funding your Preschool

 Apply to your school’s parent/booster club to purchase large items  Work with the Industrial Arts Department to build a shelf for toys and books  the staff and ask for specific donations  Once you are running your preschool, offer Scholastic Book Orders to the preschool parents.  Every order by a parent = free books for your preschool library!  Ask family and friends for age-appropriate toys and books their kids have outgrown Great Resources
