Gifted Education Response to Recommendations “Investigate different methods of implementation of the SIGNET program, including, but not limited to, offering SIGNET as a rotation class.” 8 middle schools are currently offering gifted services as a part of their encore rotation. (Benton and Rippon are cooperating with a gifted advisory request to gather participation and satisfaction data.) Battlefield HS is currently integrating gifted services at the 9 th and 10 th grade within the regular classroom. (Pre-AP English 9, Pre-AP Chemistry 10) Gar-Field HS currently offers a seminar program that is planned and implemented through collaboration with classroom teachers.

Gifted Education Response to Recommendations “Work with core teachers to deliver services to directly increase participation and retention at both the middle school and high school levels.” “Conduct a full formal evaluation of student who choose to opt-out of gifted education and report the findings of this evaluation back to the Council” Attendance data is currently being collected to better capture the scope of the council’s concern.

Gifted Education Response to Recommendations “Ensure that students who have been identified as gifted and talented receive the services for which they are eligible.” All schools at all levels use a Differentiated Service Plan to document both direct gifted resource services and differentiated classroom services.

Gifted Education Response to Recommendations “Foster SIGNET best practices across the Division so that the invaluable advantages of the SIGNET program benefit our students to the fullest.” A six module online professional development program is currently under development.
