Technology Systems Development Programme (TSDP) Supports activities aimed at developing and integrating technologies to evolve technology systems both in the advanced/emerging areas and in traditional sectors/areas. Feasibility of fresh ideas/ concepts is assessed for their potential conversion into useful technology/product. Stresses on clearly identifying the needs for development of the technology and transfer of technology to the industry (developmental effort could be useful to the target beneficiary i.e. people at large).

Objectives  Develop and integrate technologies following a holistic approach in identified areas  Promote application of modern/advanced technologies to socio-economic problem solving  Promote modernization of traditional technologies, tools and skills  Facilitate enhancing quality and performance of the traditional/non-traditional items  Encourage developments in application of R&D activities  Promote activities aimed at improving technology, technique, material, methods and other appropriate activities helpful for development of technology status in identified areas.

Intervention of Science and Technology in Traditional Crafts  Increases contribution of Scientific and Technological progress to Economic growth.  Promotes local industries to pick up Latest Technology from R & D Institutions.  Promotes the Integration of Science and Technology in the daily lives of the people.  Identifies Research Areas and Emerging Technologies that benefits Rural Areas.

TECHNOLOGY INTERVENTION STRATEGIES  APPROPRIATE TECHNOLOGY Technology suitable for use in a particular location for effectively achieving the intended goals.  ALTERNATE TECHNOLOGY Environmentally friendly and offers many benefits to community.
