LONDON SHOPPING CENTERS English Day 2010

Camden Town.  It is one of the most important markets in London.  It is situated in north London and in the neighborhood London Borough of Camden.

Camden History.  First of all Camden was a residential district. The town become important during the developement of railways. Then thank to his industry we can see Camden made for retail, tourism and entertainment. 

Camden Culture. In Camden there are very differents types of music, food, cultures, people… Such as the chinesseor the punks. For that Camden is always associated with alternative culture.

Camden Markets.  Inside of Camden we can finde these markets:  - Camden Lock Market.  - Historic Stables Market.  - Camden Lock Village.  - Buck Street Market.  - Electric Ballroom.  - Inverness Street Market.

Harrods  Harrods is a luxury department store located on Brompton Road in Knightsbridge.  The store occupies 18,000 m2 site and has over one million square feet of selling space in over 330 departments.

Background.  Harrods was established in 1834 in London’s East End, when founder Charles Henry Harrods set up a wholesale grocery in Stepneyy, with a special interest in tea.  Harrods rapidly expanded, acquired the adjoining buildings, and employed one hundred people by 1880.

Products and services.  The store's 330 departments offer a wide range of products and services. Products on offer include clothing for every sort of customer (women, men, children, and infants), electronics, jewelery, sporting gear, bridal trousseau, pets and pet accessories, toys, food and drink, health and beauty items, packaged gifts, stationery, housewares, home appliances, furniture, and much more.  Up to 300,000 customers visit the store on peak days.  More than five thousand staff from over fifty different countries work at Harrods.

Royal Warrants.  The opulent Egyptian-style clothing department at Harrods, London. Oxford Street.  Oxford Street is one of the biggest streets of London and one of the commercial streets more famous in the world. With more than 300 shops, occupies approximately meters from Marble Arch, it continues for Oxford Circus up to St Gile's Circus, towards the intersection with Charing Cross Road and Tottenham Court Road.
