Sport is life! Our survey is based on a total of 100 people divided into 2 groups : years old who are working teenagers(Which means that they have less free time than other students). Teachers from 28 to 57 years old.

Do you practice sport during your free time?

On 28 women, we can see that 79% practice a sport during their free time. And on 25 girls 64% of them practice a sport during their free time.

On 22 men, we learn that 68% of them Practice sport during their free time. And, on 25 boys, 80% of them practice a sport during their free time.

Why do/don’t you practice sport?

Women, who don’t practice sport justify it for 50% by the fact that they don’t have time, 33% for health problems and only 17% said that they don’t have interest for sport. Just like women, girls affirmed for 89% that they don’t practice sport because they have no time and only for 11% because they have health problems.

Women and girls who pratice sport do it mainly for their pleasure and leisure followed by health. The difference between women and girls is that the third motivation is simply the interest for women and the competition for girls.

For men and boys the first reason which justifies the fact that they don’t practice sport it is that they don’t have enough time. For the boys, the second reason which explains this no practice of sport is the lack of interest. For men only, the money seems to be another obstacle for the practice of sport.

The men and boys who practice sport,do it mainly for pleasure and leisure. For men, health is also an important motivation to practice sport followed by interest and competition. Boys put competition and health at the same level.

What sport do you practice?

The most practiced sport by women is swimming, followed by jogging. Girls seems to be more interested in team sports (44%) followed by swimming and at last there are jogging and combat sport.

Men essentially practice jogging (45%) followed by swimming. Boys prefer team sports (49%) and combat sports followed by jogging.

How long have you been practicing sport?

91% of women have been practicing sport for more than a year and a little part of them for less than a year. A majority of girls have been practicing sport for more than a year, a little part for less than a year and at last 6% for one year.

All the men have been practicing sport for more than a year. A major part of boys also have been practicing sport for more than a year and a very little part for one year.

How often do you practice sport?

A majority of women practice sport once a week followed by 23% twice a week and at last 14% more than twice a week. Girls practice sport once a week and twice a week for 37% followed by more than twice a week and occasionnaly for 13%.

Men practice sport twice a week for 46% followed by once a week for 27% and occasionnaly for 20% and only 7% practice it more than twice a week. The majority of boys practice sport more than twice a week followed by twice a week for 30% of them, 20% practice it once a week and just 5% occasionnaly.

Who/What can make you interested in sport?

Women and girls mainly answer « other » which means that they choose on their own to practice sport but they may be advised by friends/family and doctors.

For men and boys, it appears that friends/family may make them interested in sport followed by « other » corresponding to their own choice. The third element is doctors.

Which element does sport give you with reference to social life?

For women and girls, sport permit them to evaluate themselves. But for 32%, sport mainly represents well being. The other element for women is making friends. For girls, sport means Competition followed by making friends and at last violence but for only 3%.

Men and boys, like girls and women, affirmed that sport gives them the opportunity to evaluate themselves, followed by making friends and competition. But for 31%, sport mainly represents well being. Sport also represents violence for boys but with only 6%.

Is the relation between practicing sport and diet :

The majority of women and girls affirmed that having a diet for the practice of a sport is important. 21% of women said that it’s very important and 18% that it’s not really important. 28% of girls said that is not really important, 20% that it’s very important and only 8% that it’s not important at all.

Men and boys also affirmed that is important for them to have a diet for the practice of a sport. 23% of men said that it’s not really important, 9% that it’s very important and only 5% that it’s not important at all. 36% of boys said that it’s not really important and 20% that it’s not important at all.

Have you ever been on a diet because of sport?

64% of women and girls affirmed that they have never been on a diet because of sport. And 36% of them have been on a diet because of sport.

54% of men have never been on a diet because of sport and 46% have already been on a diet because of sport. 80% of boys have never been on a diet because of sport against 20% who have already been.

According to you is it important for the practice of a sport to :

For women and girls, the most important for the practice of a sport is to stop smoking and drinking, followed by sleeping enough hours and special diet.

For men and boys, it’s important for them to stop smoking and drinking for the practice of a sport, followed by sleeping enough hours, and special diet.

Which elements does sport give you with reference to health?

Feeling more active and energetic and having a healthier life are the main elements that sport gives to women and girls.

Where do you live?

71% of women live in town and 29% in the country. 64% of girls live in town and 36% in the country.

59% of men live in town and 41% in the country. 56% of boys live in the country and 44% in town.

Conclusion To put it in a nutshell, we can conclude by saying that a high proportion of people (73% as a whole) finally trains regularly. Most of them practice sport for pleasure and health. Practicing sport is mainly a mean to evaluate themselves. Practicing sport is their own choice even if some of the interviewed persons answered that their friends may influence them. At last, the lack of time is the main reason for not practicing.
