LUIS MERCADO UMASS 7/10/09 HAPPEX DAQ / 18-bit ADCs

Full DAQ System

Crate was taken from Injector and installed in Left arm the first week of July. Currently networked but need to run MPS, helicity and ADC cables. Left Arm Detectors.

18-bit ADCs have been installed for use with Cavity Monitors (V-mode), Lumis and Right Arm Detectors (I-mode). Proper Lumi-ADC setup was tested Jan’08 to achieve minimum pedestal noise.

Has been revived. Now have CODA configs with and w/o Qweak Crate to facilitate standalone tests. Will only use Helicity signals in this crate.

Conducted tests with 1KHz MPS. Concluded we can run at 2 kHz, or 200 Hz with ovs of 10, or 240 Hz with ovs of 8. Maybe higher but needs to be investigated.

Current Plans Deploy remaining 18-bit PREX ADCs. Add all crates to GreenMonster GUI. Incorporate G0/Qweak data Analysis into PAN. Revive synchronization checks using Bryan Moffit’s method. Create documentation for shift crew.

Latest 18-bit ADC News

New 18-bit ADCs Now have about 10 fully functional 18-bit ADC boards. Have deployed 7 of them and have 3 spares.  4 in R-HRS (2 for cavities, 2 for lumis).  3 in Counting Room (for BCMs and BPMs). Will be receiving 7 more boards from Ed J. in the next few days, bringing our total to 17 boards.

Testing of 18-bit boards. Setting and recording proper pedestals offsets in a database. Studying pedestal noise with respect to gain setting (as low as 12ppm). Only about 10 of the 64 available gain settings have noise below ~20ppm. Will modify front-end resistor to change I-mode range to those needed by detectors.

Future DAQ Tests Need to run high rate tests with full HAPPEX3 config. Checks of new helicity sequence board. Full synchronization checks. Pedestal Studies (helicity-correlated noise).
