Newton Farm school

 Government moving away from APP to “assessment without levels”  This has freed us up to develop a system which will be: - Easy to implement. - Builds on the good work the school is already doing. - Is easy for parents and children to understand. - Is easy to manipulate.

 Consulted with a variety of major data providers – Sims, I-Track, Target tracker.  Research into what other schools are doing.

 Use of Points score system, which was used in national reporting – many systems are already in place for this.  Easy to manipulate data.  Well understood levelling system, modified for the new national curriculum.

 Progress reports and End of Year reports remain the same.  Instead of levels, we are using the points system instead.  Points system materials will be highlighted on the school website.  A brief explanation of Curriculum and assessment can be found on the school website, for parents and governors who wish to know more.

 Levelling grids – Just the same as before but modified for the new curriculum.  Use the same materials as before but convert levels into points.  Internal moderation – informal and formal.  Updated writing moderation sample folders.  Updating relevant displays and other materials the children use

 Starting from this term during the end of term assessments we will trial this throughout the school.  Assessment schedule is the same as before.

 Sims – recording as points score. - Useful as a standard recording method.  Copy and paste into the Newton Farm spreadsheet. - Quick data analysis. - Easy to understand.  I-Track – Fine tuning assessments.

 Consult Staff  Consult Governors  Consult Parents  Update policies  Inform Children  Early years assessment Early years assessment  New testing materials
