Structures of Living Things Lesson 3 Digestive System

Primary Role of the Digestive System Break Down Food mouth Large intestine

Sequence of Organs used in the Digestive System 1. mouth: food gets broken down 2. esophagus: the long tube that leads to the stomach 3. stomach: food mixes with digestive juices and becomes practically liquid 4. Intestines: digestion becomes completed

THE INTESTINES There are actually 2 intestines. Small: connected to the stomach – partially digested food is mixed with chemicals from the liver and pancreas. Large: remaining liquid in the food is taken out here. The rest of the food is waste that is moved into the colon until eliminated.
