According to Criminal Law, noise is accepted a crime when you disturb public’s comfort playing some instruments noisily or doing some craft against laws. Turkish Criminal Code foresees in the 546th article that if you do such an action after 10 pm the punishment will increase.

In Turkey noise doesn’t have a priority among social, economic development or environmental problems. Hovewer, researches in this area have increased when people understand the importance of noise on human health and environment.

In the world there have been lots of things to create noise pollution in our daily lives. We must be aware of not passing noise restrictions as music,human voice or some substances with potential noise pollution.

NOISE CHECK YEAR 2012 IN TURKEY Ministry of Environment and Urban Planning has 409 checks in 81 cities in Turkey. In these checks İstanbul has been the noisiest city.

İzmir, Muğla, Antalya, Konya and Çanakkale follow İstanbul. In our city, KARAMAN noise pollution hasn’t been among the most important three problems. Bursa, Aydın, Balıkesir, Eskişehir, Gaziantep, Kayseri, Mersin, Osmaniye, Şanlıurfa, Trabzon and Yalova are the quietest cities in the checks.

Noise : Where and How ?

People touch the wood to prevent evil eyes everywhere in Turkey. People like listening to drum and horn.

In Adana, Urfa and Giresun dead bodies are taken to funeral horning.

In Balıkesir and Aydın when a child is circumcised, some glasses are broken.

In Bolu and Kocaeli people shoot off at the beginning of Ramadan.

In Çankırı people shoot off after praying for rain.

People shoot off to celebrate wedding ceremonies or circumcising ceremonies.

In Muğla, Balıkesir and İzmir a bottle is broken when the bride comes into the house for the first time.

In all cities people horn at wedding ceremonies
