Chapter 28: Consumer and Health Protection M O N T E N E G R O Negotiating Team for the Accession of Montenegro to the European Union Goals  Significantly reduce morbidity and mortality due to harmful alcohol use and other social consequences resulting from the use, and improve health and social outcomes for an individual, family and the community as a whole  Encourage efforts to create an environment in which children and young people are growing up protected from the negative consequences of alcohol consumption  To promote and support local, national and regional activities in preventing and reducing the harmful effects of alcohol  To raise general awareness of the extent and characteristics of health, social and economic problems caused by harmful use of alcohol and reinforce the commitment of the state to take action aimed at reducing the harmful use of alcohol  Strengthen and enhance resources for the prevention of harmful alcohol consumption and treatment of diseases and disorders related to alcohol consumption  Strengthen the role of the health system in relation to early intervention and treatment of disorders associated with alcohol use Chapter 28: CONSUMER AND HEALTH PROTECTION

Chapter 28: Consumer and Health Protection M O N T E N E G R O Negotiating Team for the Accession of Montenegro to the European Union Main objectives  Ongoing research work on the scale and determinants of alcohol abuse and the consequences associated with it, as well as effective interventions to prevent and mitigate these consequences;  Improve partnerships and coordination between decision-makers and enhance the mobilization of resources necessary for the implementation of agreed actions to reduce harmful alcohol usage;  Improve the national system of monitoring and supervision and ensure the effective sharing and use of information in order to represent, develop and evaluate policies;  Effectively implement and manage Strategy, which will aim to establish or delegate authority responsible for implementing, monitoring and reporting of activities under the Strategy.
