This session will prepare new advisors to face their first class of first-year students by learning the essentials of advising. Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act Academic advisors cannot share academic information (e.g. class schedule, degree choices, class grades, etc.) with anyone without the student’s written consent When in doubt, refer to the Registrar’s Office 6 FERPA

8 UI Core Curricula 2007 and before – Core Clusters  Refer to an experienced advisor in your department Core – Core Discovery  Seven-credit sequence during the first year  Students with unfulfilled Core Discovery requirements should be referred to an experienced advisor in the department Core – Integrated Seminar (ISEM)
