Transition

Typical Day  Start 7:25 – End 2:20  6 periods (55 minutes approx. each class)  30 minute lunch  10 minute Homeroom  5 minutes passing time between classes

Switching classes Students have 5 minutes of “passing time” between classes. They can do a lot in 5 minutes!!

What You Can do to Help Transition Your Child  Accept that there is a WIDE RANGE of NORMAL in Middle School!!!  Organizational & Time Management Skills are essential for SUCCESS  Always be Willing to “LISTEN” not just “HEAR” what your child has to say  Respect your child’s need for Privacy  Know his/her friends and their Parents  Monitor Computer Time & usage  A Secret Weapon for School Success- SLEEP! 10-11hrs.  Don’t end your involvement; Change it!!  NEVER-EVER-GIVE UP! It may not feel like it, but your child needs you more NOW than ever! Be Patient, you will get through this!!

Everything will be OK If you act as if you are OK with your child’s transition to the middle school they will follow your lead
