Lesson 33 & 34 – pages 30-33

 To learn that the structure of a countries population can be shown using a population pyramid.  To learn the population pyramid shapes of countries at different stages of the DTM.  Key Skill = Number

 Use sketches to help you illustrate the shapes of population pyramids in stages 2, 3 & 4 of the DTM.  Using named examples explain the different shapes of each pyramid.

 For Uganda, India & the UK: ◦ What is the male population under 10? ◦ What is the female population over 80? ◦ What is the total young dependent population? ◦ What is the total old dependent population?

Uganda, India & UK

 To learn a case study from Sub- Saharan Africa.  To learn a case study from South Asia.  To learn a case study from Western Europe.  Key Skill = Communication

 Describe how Uganda’s population will probably change by 2025 and  Explain why this will probably happen.  What problems might this cause?  Explain government policy on population.

 Draw a mind map to show: ◦ Population policies in China. ◦ Population Policies in India. Pop Policies ChinaEducationEqualityIndia

 What government policies has the state of Kerala in India introduced to reduce population growth?  Why have these reduced birth rates?

 What problems does the UK face as it enters stage 5 of the DTM?  How has the UK government taken action to avoid these problems?
