INTRODUCTION Vermont is one of the states in the United States. Vermont has the 2 nd lowest population then any other state. Vermont’s nickname is The Green Mountain state and the capital of Vermont is Montpelier. Vermont is located in the New England region in the Eastern United States. Did you know that Vermont comes from the French word green mountain?

COWS AND ICE CREAM Did you know that Vermont has the biggest ratio of cows to people in the whole country. Guess what they do with those cows they make a lot of ice cream. Also that the first famous Ben And Jerrys ice cream shop opened in Burlington,1978

MAPLE SYRUP Montpelier, the capital of Vermont, has the largest production of maple syrup in the US. Churning out about 35 percent of the nations supply of maple syrup. So, if you want maple syrup, think about taking a trip to Vermont.

VERMONT THE STATE Vermont became a part of the USA in March It also was the 14 th state out of the 50 states. Did you know that Vermont was the first state to join the United States after the Thirteen Colonies. Interesting fact, Montpelier is the only state capital without a McDonalds.

LOCH NESS MONSTER? “Whoa, what is that swimming in the lake?”, people say as they’re fishing at Lake Champlain. Well that thing is Champ, a very friendly monster that lives in lake Champlain. For over 300 years people reported seeing Champ in Lake Champlain. Also did you know that Vermont’s lake mascot is Champ?

BILLBOARDS Did you know that billboards are illegal in Vermont? People in Vermont think it takes out the natural beauty that Vermont has. Oh by the way Vermonters don’t like advertising.

SNOWBOARDING Vermont lays claim to being a key location in snowboarding history. Jake Burton, owner of Burton Snowboards, is the biggest snowboarding company in the world who's headquarters is in Vermont.

LAKE CHAMPLAIN Did you know that Lake Champlain used to be the 6 th great lake? President Bill Clinton signed a bill to make Lake Champlain the 6 th great lake. Unfortunately the Senate repealed the bill not making it the 6 th great lake of America.

INDEPENDENT COUNTRY 14 years before Vermont became the 14 th state it was a independent country. New York and New Hampshire were fighting to take over Vermont’s green hills and mountains, because of this Vermont became a independent country in July Interesting fact, Vermont's name used to be New Connecticut before it was Vermont.

NATIONAL FOREST The Green Mountain National Forest is a four season recreation experience. The most popular season is Autumn, because of the color and the beauty of the trees. Summer is popular for hiking, camping, and fishing. In winter, snow falls and the skiers and snowboarders go tear up the mountains. Spring emerges and the winter trees turn into nice leafs in the warm spring air.

DUMB LAWS IN VERMONT One of the dumb laws in Vermont is Women must obtain written permission from their husbands to ware false teeth. Another dumb law is, at one time it was illegal to tie a giraffe to a telephone pole. The last dumb law, is every citizen needs to bathe every Saturday.

ODD FACT The tallest building in Vermont is 11 stories high, making it the shortest tallest building in the country. So every state has taller buildings than Vermont’s tallest building.

ANOTHER ODD FACT The town Winooski, in Vermont, was close to being a giant dome city. The makers thought it would be a good way to address the city's winter energy conservation. In the end, the town couldn’t have enough money to build the whole dome. So it still remains dome less.
