WHAT IS ENERGY? Notes:

 Science is mostly about matter and energy. We say that matter is anything that has mass and takes up space. That is easy to understand but, energy is more mysterious. We say that energy is the ability to do work. WHAT IS ENERGY?

 The best way to understand energy is to first look at all the different kinds of energy. The more kinds of energy we learn about, the more we get a feeling for it. WHAT IS ENERGY?

TYPES OF ENERGY: 1.Mechanical Energy- Total energy of motion and position of an object. Two kinds of mechanical energy are: a. Potential – Energy not used yet. b. Kinetic – Object is moving. WHAT IS ENERGY? Gravity gives potential energy potential. Gravity gives a falling object the motion for kinetic energy.
