NHS West Kent Clinical Commissioning Group Prior to IAPT Poor rates of diagnosis of depression and anxiety disorders by GPs and health staff Medication (anti-depressants) the standard response for those who were diagnosed Many people receiving no treatment at all Postcode lottery for availability of psychological therapies, many areas had no free NHS provision, private therapists available at a cost to the individual Many who were dispensing therapies in the NHS and privately were not trained to do so

NHS West Kent Clinical Commissioning Group IAPT – a groundbreaking initiative Original aim – to provide a universal primary care psychological therapy service for people with depression and anxiety disorders Use of NICE approved and evidence based therapies within a stepped care model Collection of outcome data at every session Therapy provided by trained and supervised workforce Focus on employment

NHS West Kent Clinical Commissioning Group Development of local services October 2009 PCPTS (IAPT) services launched across Kent and Medway Summer 2012 services selected by Primary Care Trust as AQP service Autumn 2012 start of AQP contract (up to 10 providers selected across Kent and Medway) including: KCA, KMPT, MHCO (Insight), Get Stable, Counselling Team, Faversham Counselling, DGS Mind, Psicon Ltd, Dover Counselling Team, Mental Health (Talking) Matters
