CNS Quiz Vestbular apparatus & Limbic System

How subconsciously we maintain our balance ?

By measuring linear and angular acceleration of the head through vestibular receptors, the vestibular system is able to allow us to subconsciously maintain our balance

What are the functions of the Vestibular apparatus?

Equilibrium in the subjective sensation of motion and spatial orientation. Maintains body upright posture. Stabilize the eyes in space during head movements.

Where do you find the organs of balance located in our body?

the organs of balance are located in the inner ear

Where you find the endolymph ?

In the inner membranous labyrinth

List the cortical and subcortical structures of the Limbic system? Cortical Structures; Cingulate gyrus Parahippocampal cortex Insular cortex Orbital surface of the frontal lobes Subcallosal cortex Hypothalamus

Limbic System Subcortical structures: Amygdala Hippocampus Fornix Septal nuclei Mamillary bodies Anterior nucleus of thalamus

Briefly describe the functions of limbic system. Explain any one. 1.Role in olfaction- Mainly through amygdala and Hypothalamus. 2. Controle of ANS - through hypothalamic nuclei 3. Regulation of feeding – establishing satisfaction after feeding 4. Somatic responses – Facial muscles ( Ipsilateral side ) response to limbic stimulation

5. Regulation of Circadian rhythem 6. Role in sexual behavior- Stimulatory 7. Role in conciousness, memory and emotion.

Limbic System Role in sexual behavior Along with endocrine system through positive as well as negative feed back mechanism Pathe way of positive feed back mechanism: Hippocampus – Hypothalamus – Pitutary – Gonads.

Limbic System Role in sexual behavior Pathe way of Negative feed back mechanism: Amygdala – Hypothalamus – Pitutary – Gonads.

Ok fine Thank u all.
