donation product – best practices

donation products increase giving by showcasing the impact of the donation; they have 5 key elements 2 showcases impact of donations creates emotional connect explains the need for donation explains how the money is utilized all the above contribute in getting repeat donations from donors. always remember to mention about programmes which are currently run by the NGO and not new programmes 1. name 2. description 5. cost 4. tax benefit 3. photo

a good product name helps in creating a great first impression and helps donors in making a quick decision choices are often made on the basis of first impression people have limited time and want to make quick but informed decisions would you donate to product like below, which have been written badly; educate children give money for elder medicel expense 1. name 3

a good impression is created by answering simple questions and using correct spellings answer basic question like – what? how? how much? for how long? for whom? this makes it easy for donors to understand the use of the donation in brief quantify the number of beneficiaries and period of the donation (e.g. education for 10 children for a month, providing 1 kilo of rice to an elderly couple etc.) ` this helps donors understand the exact use of the donation use simple words and avoid using unfamiliar terms e.g. intervention villages, lactation management etc. this allows the donor to easily understand the purpose of the donation spell check this is a very easy way to create a good impression about the NGO 1. name 4

there are 4 key parts of a good product name begin with a verb e.g. donate, sponsor, help, support, educate, provide, etc add the specific support being provided including number if relevant e.g. one cataract surgery, uniform & tuition, a wheelchair, 10 kgs of rice, 10 notebooks, etc mention the beneficiary and include the number of beneficiaries if relevant e.g. child, girl child, 10 women, youth, elderly, five mentally challenged, etc. include the impact the donation brings about (if there is one) to the lives of the beneficiary e.g. increases attendance, provides water through the year, etc name

a good product name can make all the difference in the amount of donations you raise help educate by providing for books, uniform and teachers salary for a child for 1 year. verb: help educate specifics: providing for books, uniform and teachers salary beneficiary details: child for 1 year support monthly medical expense of a senior citizen suffering from diabetes thereby helping them live a healthier life verb: support specifics: monthly medical expense of beneficiary details: a senior citizen impact: thereby helping them live a healthier life 6 1. name
