GREEN BUSINESS GROWTH – THE SUCCESS STORY Public-Private Partnership with energy efficiency in existing buildings 21 partners: 7 municipalities and 14 private businesses and energy suppliers Commenced in the Region of Southern Denmark (2009) Focus: Education, visualization, market development and knowledge sharing Initial goal: 300 green jobs, New goal: 100 jobs From 2014 a self-funding project Target group: Citizens, businesses and public authorities

CHAIN EFFECT : Master craftsmen as drivers for growth Craftsman education Campaigns: Energy fairs Visualization Supporting SMEs PR cases Energy check ups orders

MOST IMPORTANT RESULTS AND EFFECTS Energy master craftsmen from Green Business Growth experienced 29 % income increase in vs. status quo for similar businesses in DK 165 annual jobs created in 3 years 15 million EUR increased turnover in 3 years Positive proceeds on public finances: 5,6 million EUR. (165 jobs x EUR) (34,000 EUR Pr. job = tax yields and saved unemployment benefits 2500 single-family houses energy renovated 3800 tons of saved CO2 annually

RESULTS AND METHODS Master craftsmen post education – 9 courses followed by new special courses/network meetings 300 homeowners attached by 170 energy check-ups and 130 participants in 6 evening courses end-users at 21 energy fairs/events Dialogue, social innovation, stakeholder involvement, higher information level: Partnership and networking – CSR and Sustainable Growth 600 stakeholders involved press reports Nominated EU Region Stars Awards

SUCCESS IS ALSO RENEWAL AND PROJECT DEVELOPMENT Green Business Growth New targets: 10 % growth, 100 press reports, 100 jobs (self-funding) New post-education models, energy events, meetings with finance institutions and dialog based network meetings, templates for energy events, cooperation with national initiative ”Better Housing” New projects GBG as part of new projects or part of national advisory boards or national pilot testing Hands on Energy: Test of Intelligent Energy Management at private homes, SMV- involvement, financing, export opportunities (EU-regional Funding) REFURB: Motivation for Deep Energy renovation - Bridge the gap between the demand and supply side (Horizon 2020) - Consumer Engagement for Sustainable Energy and Energy Efficient Equipment through tailored communication, support platform, serious energy gaming, tailored training (Application Horizon 2020) 8
