Unique Properties of the Earth

1. Due to the location in the solar system the Earth is not too hot and not too cold… it’s just right for life.

2. The atmosphere shields us from solar radiation and the magnetic field shield the Earth’s from solar wind.

3. The atmosphere consists of Nitrogen (78%) and Oxygen (21%). Just the right combination for all life forms.

4. Although the Earth is a “rocky” planet, it’s temperature allows water to exist in all three states at the same time: solid, liquid, and gas.

5. The Earth has plate tectonics, the process by which the outer crust of the earth is broken up into regions known as tectonic plates. The plates recycle carbon from dead plants and animals, removing it from the atmosphere and cooling off the planet.

What makes Earth unique and different from other planets (The GOLDILOCKS Planet)? 5.
