Established in 1978, Wilderness Inquiry is a non-profit organization that connects people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds to the natural world through shared outdoor experiences
CANOEMOBILE The Canoemobile brings classroom learning outside through place-based education experiences on waterways within local communities. A “Canoemobile” is a van and trailer with six 10-passenger Voyageur canoes & eight outdoor educators. Canoemobile partners with local organizations to provide integrated on- water & land-based education experiences Canoemobile travels to 45 cities and engages 25,000 youth each year
SAMPLE DAY SCHEDULE SCHOOL-DAY SCHEDULE SCHOOL-DAY SCHEDULE: Morning Session: 9:00-11:30am Afternoon Session: 12:00-2:30pm SESSION TIMING: 15 Minutes for arrival and departure 60 minutes for PFD fitting, safety talk, & paddle 60 minutes for land-based programming stations: Participants rotate in small groups through 2-4 land-based activity stationsGROUP: Up to 108 youth and chaperones per session 4 th -12 th grades

THE CANOEMOBILE MODEL Anyone can participate regardless of experience or physical ability No swimming experience necessary The program is free of cost for groups WI provides all gear/equipment: students can wear their normal clothes & WI provides participants with PFDs, paddles, & ponchos Wilderness Inquiry has 30+ years of experience Boat captains are all highly experienced paddlers, are wilderness first aid certified, and are steering the boats
