Early LifeEarly Life Born On Sept in Nkroful, or what was then the gold coast. He was a teacher. Came to US in 1935 for school to study literature and then went to England to continue his studies.

Later YearsLater Years In 1949, formed the convention peoples party which advocated nonviolent protests, strikes, and noncooperation with the British authorities. He was elected prime minister of the gold coast in 1952, and then was elected president of Ghana in Did many good things for Ghana; built schools, roads, and health facilities Overthrown by the military in 1966, with the help of western backing, he spent his last years in exile, dying in Bucharest, Romania, on April 27, 1972

Jack Conroy Jack Conroy is a writer who wrote fiction and nonfiction about the lives of American workers during the early decades of the 20th century, the time period he was living in. Jack Conroy was born on December 5, 1898 on the coal mining camp that he grew up in. His experiences there later shaped his two most famous novels "The Disinherited" and "A World To Win". He died in Missouri on February 28, 1990.

Novels of Jack Conroy His most well known novels "The Disinherited,'' is about a young boy from Missouri who grows up in a mining camp during the Depression. "The Disinherited" was rejected by 12 publishers before Covici-Friede accepted it. Another well known novel of his "A World to Win" follows two brothers throughout their lives during the Great Depression.

Accomplishments  Hoover worked at the Library of Congress during college  He also became a member of Kappa Alpha Order during college.  John Edgar Hoover KBE (January 1, 1895 – May 2, 1972) became the first Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) of the United States. He remained in the FBI until his death.  Hoover is credited with building the FBI into a large and succesful crime-fighting agency, he also came up with the idea to have fingerprint files and forensic laboratories.

John Silas Reed  John Silas Reed was an American journalist and a poet adventurer.  He was born in Portland Oregon on October  His family was very wealthy.  Reed was a very active young boy.  He went to Harvard University and served on the editorial of Harvard Monthly and Lampoon.

After Harvard…  After graduating, has started a career as a journalist in Leftist magazine.  In 1913, Reed published him first book, Sanger, which was a collection of poems.  He also wrote the Pageant of the Patterson strike.  He was arrested several times for striking on silk in Patterson, New Jersey

Continued  John Reed was named Russian Consul general at New York  He also formed the Communist labor party.  John Reed died in 1920  He died of Typhus disease
