The four written methods

Column addition To do Colum addition fist you must ad the units together 1+7= 8 Next add the tens 8+9= 17 You cant put a two digit number in on Colum so you have to carry the one 1 so in the Colum you only put seven. Now the hundreds there's only one number 3 But we've still got a one left add that together 3+1= 4

Column subtraction In subtracting we borrow in stead of carrying 2-7 cant be done so we borrow from the tens Colum witch is becomes 3 and 2 becomes 12. Because the one from the four turns 2 into 12.

Column multiplication to do column multiplicaition first you have to times the units bottom number by the top number Next you have to times the unit by the tens Then by the hundreds Then do the same with the other bottom numbers.

The bus stop method To do this method first you put the number out side the bus stop into the number next to it Then any remainders go next to the last number and make it bigger you repeat this Until you get a final number.
