Old Testament Law

Old Testament Law Genre - The first five books of the Old Testamentare considered to be Law: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronmy. A nickname for these books is Penta teuch (5 books) The Jewish people call it, Ha Torah (The Law)

Genesis- a history of how the world and then God’s people (Israel) started Old Testament Law Genre

Exodus- God rescued the people of Israel and made a covenant with them (agreement/contract) Old Testament Law Genre

Leviticus- God teaches Israel the rules about holiness, worship, and how to live Old Testament Law Genre

Numbers- The people of Israel wander in the desert and their numbers grow

Old Testament Law Genre Deuteronomy- Moses gives speeches to Israel about the law and the consequences ofobedience or disobedience.
