Noise Pollution & It's Sustainable Solution pipu

What is noise pollution? Noise Pollution is generally used as an unwanted sound, or sound which produces unpleasant effects and discomfort on the ears. pipu

pipu

What are the source of noise pollution? pipu

Noise can come from many places. Let us see a few good sources: Household Sources. Social Events. Commercial & Industrial Activities. Transportation. pipu

Household Sources Gadgets like food mixer, grinder, vacuum cleaner, washing machine and dryer, cooler, air conditioners, can be very noisy and injurious to health. Others include loud speakers of  sound systems and TVs, ipods and ear phones. Another example may be your neighbor’s dog barking all night pipu

Social Events Places of worship, discos and gigs, parties and other social events also create a lot of noise for the people living in that area. In many market areas, people sell with loud speakers, others shout out offers and try to get customers to buy their goods. pipu

Commercial & Industrial Activities Printing presses, manufacturing industries, construction sites, contribute to noise pollution. In many industries, it is a requirement that people always wear earplugs to minimize their exposure to heavy noise. pipu

Transportation Think of aero planes flying over houses close to busy airports. over ground and underground trains, vehicles on road—these are constantly making a lot of noise and people always struggle to cope with them. pipu

Noise Pollution in Dhaka City pipu

Noise pollution continues to pose a major health threat for Bangladesh, especially in cities and particularly in Dhaka city. People of Dhaka city mostly suffer from the bad effects of noise pollution. Approximately two crore people now live in the capital city where traffic congestions a regular phenomenon almost in every road, lane and by-lane. Moreover, use of  brick-crushing machines in the locality and abuse of loudspeakers are other causes of noise pollution. pipu

Health Effects According to the USEPA, there are direct links between noise and health. Also, noise pollution adversely affects the lives of millions of people. Noise pollution can damage physiological and psychological health. High blood pressure, stress related illness, sleep disruption, hearing loss, and productivity loss are the problems related to noise pollution. It can also cause memory loss, severe depression, and panic attacks.

Sustainable Solution of Noise Pollution pipu

Below are a few things people and governments can do to make our communities and living laces quieter: Construction of soundproof rooms for noisy machines in industrial and manufacturing installations must be encouraged. This is also important for residential building—noisy machines should be installed far from sleeping and living rooms, like in a basement or garage. Noise producing industries, airports, bus and transport terminals and railway stations to sighted far from where living places. pipu

Community law enforcers should check the misuse of loudspeakers, worshipers, outdoor parties and discos, as well as public announcements systems. Community laws must silence zones near schools / colleges, hospitals etc. Vegetation (trees) along roads and in residential areas is a good way to reduce noise pollution as they absorb sound. pipu

Solutions for Noise Pollution Planting bushes and trees in and around sound generating sources is an effective solution for noise pollution. Regular servicing and tuning of automobiles can effectively reduce the noise pollution. Buildings can be designed with suitable noise absorbing material for the walls, windows, and ceilings.

Solutions for Noise Pollution Similar to automobiles, lubrication of the machinery and servicing should be done to minimize noise generation. Soundproof doors and windows can be installed to block unwanted noise from outside. Regulations should be imposed to restrict the usage of play loudspeakers in crowded areas and public places. Factories and industries should be located far from the residential areas.

Solutions for Noise Pollution Community development or urban management should be done with long-term planning, along with an aim to reduce noise pollution. Social awareness programs should be taken up to educate the public about the causes and effects of noise pollution. Workers should be provided with equipments such as ear plugs and earmuffs for hearing protection
