Structure – 3 types of muscle tissue: 1. Skeletal muscle – attached to bone 2. Smooth muscle – not under voluntary control (lining of stomach, blood vessels)
3. Cardiac muscle – makes up the heart. Function – to provide forces for movement - muscles attached to bones by tendons - muscle contractions move bones (uses ATP for energy )
Arthritis – inflammation of joints Muscular Dystrophy - inherited disorder causing weakening and wasting away of muscles.
