Teaching and assessment  Mixture of lectures, seminars, groupwork, practicals, workshops and computing labs  Approx 12–15 hours contact/week Individual study the rest of the time  Over the degree, assessment is roughly 50:50 exam and coursework  Coursework includes project reports, essays, oral presentations and poster presentations

Admissions – typical qualifications A-level: A*AA  Ideally plus extras (e.g., AS levels, extended essay)  GCSE maths A & good English IB: 36 overall, with 7,6,6 at Higher level European bacc: 85% overall, with 7.5 in English and Mathematics

Preferred subjects at A2 level We are likely to want at least one, and preferably two, of these:- Psychology, Sociology, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Geography, Mathematics, Statistics, Anthropology, Economics, Politics/Politics & Government, Philosophy, Geology, History.

Personal statements  There is no one “right” way to write these  Better statements tend to be frank and individual  Avoid generic statements and content  Try to show, rather than tell  Compare “I have spent six months working in my spare time as a volunteer at a learning disabilities centre” [show] with “I am very passionate about psychology” [tell]
