Invention Convention Creativity Seminar 2015

* Problem We love to dress our sweet baby girls in dresses… but when they start to crawl those dresses can be really frustrating for baby and get in the way of their development in this area.

* I had this idea with my first daughter and said I was going to invent a baby bustle. I thought of my bustle on my wedding dress, because every time she was crawling in a dress we would gather it up in the back and tie it with a rubber band. I called it the Baby Bustle joking. There were some issues that I had with this solution.

* Problems * 1. The rubber band wrinkles the back of the dress. * My husband said that this was the only problem… mama says that it didn’t look cute! * My oldest daughter says her sister “Looks like a chicken!” when we tie it back. -4 years old * Also, you had to pull almost all the dress up to the back which really defeated the whole purpose of even having on a dress.

* I didn’t sketch out any ideas I used other products that I wanted to use to see how well it worked. First thoughts were it be some type of cone shape. The pump part was used to try this out. It has to be soft so I was thinking of a hair bun sponge that are soft and we could pull the dress through it and pull it through like a flower, but it still wrinkled dress. I dressed up a doll with a dress to practice these ideas on. Toddlers move too much! * Then it hit me! Why tie it up from the back? We need to pull up the front only because this is the part they crawl on.

I played around with the front and wanted to make some type of clip that would move and be soft. I came up with the magnetic ribbon idea. It was soft and flexible.

* I had tossed around the idea of a type of material that would snap like a snap barrette. But it wasn’t strong enough, but the idea of it. Almost like a snap bracelet… Then my at my school carnival my daughter won one and I had to try it!!

Allows baby to crawl without getting caught in dress and getting frustrated. Soft, Fashionable, and easy to put on busy baby! Allows you to still dress your baby in sweet dresses, but won’t interfere with this important stage in your baby’s physical development. Can be used with walkers as well when they need a little bustle to allow for more movement in a dress.
